Pop of colour

♥Pop of colour♥

I can use my laptop again!! I forgot my charger on Monday and have not been able to use my laptop until now and I made a massive discovery. I’m seriously addicted to my laptop! I knew that I spent a lot of time on it but not just how much. Honestly, I didn’t know what to do without myself at some points! Thank God I have it back now. But I think I should really make an effort to spend my time on other things, not constantly on my laptop.

Lately I’ve been thinking about moving to wordpress.org. I’m using .com now but I’m finding it slightly limiting in terms of themes/designs and having the blog function and look the way I’m envisioning. Does anyone have any tips on how to transfer from .com to .org?

With all that out of the way, how beautiful are these colours though? I often find January quite dull and grey and it can be so hard to motivate yourself, for anything really. I find that bright colours have a positive effect on my mood and my motivation to do everything I should be doing, but also to push myself to try new things. I’m also (already..) getting excited for summer so looking at bright colourful images is definitely getting my more excited. Okay, now time to go out and do my errands!

Style makeover

Lately I’ve been a bit sick of my clothes and how I dress. I want a new change and I want to alter my fashion sense a bit. I wear mainly black, white, beige/brown and some dark blue. I don’t mind that at all, I love those colours and I do add splashes of more exciting colours so I want to continue with my colour palette. I want to change the types of clothing that I wear though. I’m very much about comfort and I want to add my elegance, sleek lines and good cuts into my closet. I’ve been living in cosy jumpers and jeans lately and as much as it is so comfy, I want to make more of an effort, to try and change up my look a bit and look more polished. So I’ve gathered some inspiration of looks that I really love, I hope you enjoy:)

Tip: Etsy

I discovered Etsy about a year ago. I was initially a bit sceptic, people selling their homemade things online. My mind immediately went to itchy colourful woollen jumpers and those (ugly) earrings that I remember making that you could get from them make-it-yourself shop. But oh was I wrong! I have found so many amazing things on Etsy! This is now my go-to place for anything stationary. I have yet to buy a 2017 planner but I’ve got my mind on this absolutely beautiful one. They’re made by people who use planners and know what people want. I’ve also bought loads of stickers, washy tape and pens to decorate my planner, I’m such a geek for that.

You can also find clothes, furniture, anything really! It’s great for people who are just starting out who might not have the funds to go right to paying for employers and a retail place.

Introducing Wellness Wednesday

I’m introducing a new topic today, Wellness Wednesday! This will be a weekly post that will be coming up every Wednesday and that will be focusing on wellness, wellbeing and things like how to reduce everyday stress. I’ll only introduce things that I know work and that has actually been tested. Having a psychology background I thought it would be good to be able to talk about certain things that I know actually does work and why it works.

I also want to post on more of a schedule, I’m thinking probably 3-4 post a week? Maybe Monday, Wednesday, Friday and possibly Sunday? Sunday’s will be dedicated to interior, decorating and house related stuff, while Monday’s and Friday’s are fashion, beauty and just everyday stuff.

♥Wellness Wednesday – organise your life♥

As it is January and the beginning of a new year, most people have a set of new year’s resolutions, things that they want to improve on and get rid off. I’m completely the same and had a massive throw out of all old beauty products, makeup and papers the other day! And that’s what I want to introduce today, organise your space around you. Throw away what you don’t need, you’ll end up with a lot more room in your house, you know exactly what you have and you’ll end up feeling so much organised.

Top organisation/clean out tips:

  • Organise all your papers: Do you have lots of notes and papers lying around? Collect all of it and separate into a throw pile and keep pile. With the keep pile organise that again into sections, such as for example bills to keep, cards, important documents etc. and put them into separate folders.

  • Go through your closet. Throw away anything that you haven’t worn in the last two years. Yes, really. You won’t use it again. Also throw away anything with holes on that’s not worth repairing, socks you only have one off and things that no longer fit. Fold your knickers and put into a drawer, fold pairs of socks into each other and place bra’s in a big drawer, placing the cups into each other. This way you can see everything.
  • Organise your clothes into sections, such as jeans by themselves, t-shirts by themselves etc. You can also organise by colour. Fold the bottom of long dresses over the hanger so they don’t get ruined and keep paper in nice bags and shoes so they keep their shape.

  • Go through all your makeup and beauty products. Anything that has expired you throw out, and anything that you simply don’t use throw away or give it to someone else. Organise it into for example small see through boxes so you see everything. Also clean all your makeup brushes.

Phew! This is what I did a few days ago and I couldn’t believe some of the things that I had that I really should have been throwing out a long time ago. I now know where everything is kept and exactly what I’ve got which actually makes my head feel a lot more organised. And there’s not so more running around trying to find that lip gloss or my passport at the last minute!

Read more books

Read more books

One thing I would love to do more this year is to read more books. I love reading, I love getting engulfed into another world, to forget where I am and just live through the story I’m reading. Books can take you to so many places, I feel like I have lived so many lives, been on so many adventures, learnt so much from who are different from me; just from reading books.

From someone who grew up reading the Harry Potter books and was absolutely obsessed with the wizarding world, I’m a great fan of Emma Watson. I loved her as Hermione Granger and loved that she shares so many characteristics of her Hermione; such as reading. I actually found out that GoodReads have posted Emma Watson’s year in books on their site and I loved that concept! I want to have a look at a few of the books that she’s read (definitely picking up Beyond Words: What animals think and feel!). I mainly read fiction but would love to explore some non-fiction this year too.

Oh, and I can’t wait to see the new Beauty and the Beast film that’s coming out now!

My New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year again, everyone! I’m one of those people who love a new start. I love the chance of starting fresh, of making new goals and commitment and the excitement of it all. Even though there’s nothing stopping anyone from starting to work on their new goals on a regular Thursday, there’s something a lot more exciting about the start of a whole new year. 365 days where you have the chance of deciding how you want them to be.

However, don’t make your resolutions too difficult! It’s so easy to try to much, to make your goals so big that they are frankly not achievable. And you just end up feeling devastated when you’re not able to reach your goal. I know I have done that several times in the past! I want my goals to be obtainable, and bring me closer to my life values. Saying I’m going to work out 7 days a week or never eat chocolate again is just pointless for me. Saying I want to work out 2 times a week and maybe half my chocolate intake is a lot more realistic.

New Year’s Resolutions

  • My number one resolution is to handle set backs better. I can often be an all or nothing person. I’m very good at giving up on something if I have made a small mistake, such as just wait until next Monday to eat better if I eat a chocolate on Wednesday (don’t think I’m alone here?! hopefully, haha). If it is something that affects someone else I tend to be committed to the end goal, if it’s something that only affects me then not so much. So this year I want to practise getting back on the horse, because I know I will have set backs. And that’s okay!Get back in to pilates.
  • This is something I have been talking about forever, but have yet to do. I love pilates and I have never tried anything that builds up my core strength faster and better than this. I’m very excited about this one!
  • Improve this blog. I want to take better picture, improve my editing and take different pictures! I want this blog to look and be the way that I can imagine that it could. It takes a lot of effort and work, but I want to make it better. I’ve got Photoshop and Lightroom so I’m looking for something that watch/learn how to use this better. Anyone who has any tips?
  • Organise my time better. In the last 6 months I haven’t been very happy with the way I have managed my time. Because I have very long workdays I need to manage my time well as I don’t actually have time to do anything else, which makes it difficult to for example blog. But I’m going to view it as a challenge instead of a problem. Practice makes perfect:)
  • Continue saving. This is something that I think I’ve been good at in the last part of 2016. I’ve been fairly good at managing my money, and prioritise what to spend on and save 10% of my monthly income. The best tip I have for this is to move either a set % or set amount into a savings account on the day you get paid, don’t wait until the end of the month because you’ll just feel like you can’t afford to set anything away.
  • Cook more and try more new recipes. I have absolutely been neglecting cooking in the last few years. Being a student and only have myself to cook for has for me only meant to I have gotten worse and worse at cooking. I got a recipe book for Christmas and I’m very excited to try some of the recipes and hopefully improve my cooking skills.

Christmas snaps

I’m back at work after an amazing Christmas holiday with my family in Norway. I spent the time just completely relaxing, eating loads of delicious food, watching Christmas films, cuddling my dog and spending time with family and friends.
I’m so excited for what the new year brings. 2016 has been both a difficult and amazing year. Difficult because of all the horrible things that’s happening in the world and struggles in my personal life. Amazing because I’ve moved forward career wise, my relationships is stronger than ever, I’ve travelled lots and I feel like I’m in a good place in life. I’m so excited for this new year and all it has to bring. I’m hoping for a couple positive changes that I’ve been dreaming about for a little while and hopefully they will happen soon.
A happy new year to all! ❤️

Book recommendation: Elements of style

If you, like me, love interior design and decorating you’ll love this book. It is called “Elements of Style” by the amazing Erin Gates. I came across it randomly in a WHSmith and I actually wanted to buy it just based on the cover without actually knowing if it was good. I love a good black and white stripe anything so I was sold just then. However, it is amazing to read too. I read the entire thing in a couple days and then wanted to decorate every room in the house despite not having any money lol.

Okay, Erin (www.elementsofstyleblog.com) actually also has a blog which I believe (if I’m not wrong) as a reason why she wrote this book. She is an interior designer and has her own business along with running her own very successful blog where she naturally writes about interior design, but also fashion, and her adorable baby boy Henry.

I’ve seen this book on top of so many tables in the background of so many Instagram and and blog photos. It’s basically a guide in how to decorate every room in your house mixed in with Erin’s personal stories. I love it and I’ll definitely re-read it when I need to go interior shopping for my future home. This would definitely be an amazing christmas present for anyone who loves interior design/decorating!
